2018-2019 School Year
NCA STATE COMPETITION: 2nd PLACE
NCA NATIONALS COMPETITION: 4th PLACE
This summer the FMS cheer team was hard at work at their 4 day cheer camp at Sam Houston State University!
These athletes had 12 hour days, walked 6+ miles around campus, and still had hippo spirit!
We walked away with so much to be proud of! Not only did the team learn new skills but they grew together and represented FMS and Hutto ISD with Grace and integrity.
We had seven of our girls get nominated, and tryout for, NCA All American Cheerleader. This is one of the most prestigious awards given by NCA. Makaylei Maroquin, an incoming 8th grader, was one of THREE middle school students to make the All American Squad!
FMS’s Henrietta the Hippo (Ethan Carrington) was also nominated and made the NCA All American Mascot Team! A huge honor for everyone nominated and both athletes that made the team! Henrietta also received awards for the most spirited mascot, getting to bring home another spirit stick to FMS!
The squad was awarded the Herkie Team Spirit award for showing enthusiasm and excitement for each team on the floor. They received a spirit stick 3 of the 4 days including an overall camp spirit stick they got to bring home. They scored superior ribbons in both their game day chant and performance cheer, with almost all 10’s. They were awarded the NCA stunt safe award for showing excellence in stunting. In final day evaluation, they were awarded top team chant for the middle school division. And after 4 days of hard work were given their bid to attend NCA nationals in January, to compete alongside some of the top cheerleaders in the nation!
